i'm in a sudden rush to publish this post...cuz i just read an article (me? read article?o nvm...)about multiple personality disorder...we've seen it in movies and shows but it is actualli worse in real life...the article is about a women with 17 different personalities...some are man some are women some are children...and when the alter ego takes over she is totally unaware...they do things that one and other do not know of...she went thru many many years of therapy before she gt to know all of her alter ego...although this prob is so real it is hardly acknowledge in the fields...cuz it's still pretty rare...
but i actualli think that everyone has split personalities...several personalities...well it's just that ours is not a disorder...the difference is that we are conscious of the things that we do...but we may or may not be aware of the emotions and thoughts our various personalities are undergoing...like wat they always say...inside every man there is a child...it's not that serious like those who are suffering from multiple personality disorder...bcuz it doesn't cause us major problems in our daily routines n stuff...but in my opinion i think that it causes other problems...bcuz the difference in action between our various personalities are so minute we tend to ignore, neglect or are totally unaware of their existence...but it is like...natural resources...we are eating away part of ourselves...and we're totally unaware of it...n in the end...we are not very much ourselves anymore...in the sense...we are still us but not the whole of us...
sounds pretty horrifying...that's why i think it is very impt for us to recognise, understand and acknowledge ourselves...having several personalities is normal...
let me put it in a better way...simplistically a normal human will usually have two different personalities...public and private...simple...but the split continues...public towards strangers and aquintance...public towards ppl of higher authority (no i do not ONLY refer to the teachers)...private towards our family...private towards our friends...private towards our lovers...and the split continues...closer friends...very close friends...soso friends...
how many of us can safely say that we are consistent throughout our interaction with people? and how many of us can actually say that we understand ourselves fully?
i think it is just getting harder in today's world....what Bruce Lee said was right...is right...self-actualisation and self-image actualisation is two VERY DIFFERENT things...and how many of us can actually be aware of the difference...I didn't...until 2 yrs of JC life made me realise how wrong i have been in my perception of myself...and how differently i have projected my image in front of various people..so much so that i am almost losing my REAL...or rather the OTHER part of myself...my opinion...self actualisation is more impt...nt bcuz it is right at the top of some heirachy of needs or smth...but bcuz there will always be a part of us feeling tired and unsatisfied no matter how much we try to cater to our own needs and wants...reason? bcuz we have failed to identify what ALL of ourselves want...not only do we need to cater to one of our personalities.... but we also nid to acknowledge and understand ALL our various personalities....
and on the road of self discovery we will come to discover more and more of what we do NOT know about ourselves...it is a life long learning process....it's like science...the solution to one question gives rise to many other questions...
